I have been looking at General William Tecumseh Sherman's unpublished recollections of his childhood in Lancaster (Ohio Historical Society). While Sherman's handwriting is often unclear, he seems to make a passing reference to an "Aunty Sumner" living near the Shermans in Lancaster. Can anyone give me any information about this person or her relationship to the Shermans? Thank you. Carl Schenker

SURNAME: ZWAYER, DUM(M)
QUERY: Looking for information on the Jacob Dumm family of Fairfield County, Ohio.
Jacob was married to Mary Juliana Zwayer (Zweyer/Zweir/Zweier/Zaayer), originally from Berks County, PA. Reputedly, Mary Juliana's father -- Thomas Zweier -- moved from Berks Co. to Fairfield Co. in 1834. This Thomas Zweier lived with Jacob and Mary Juliana's son, Joseph, until his death in 1843. Supposedly, Thomas was buried in an unmarked grave at Elmwood Catholic Cemetery in Lancaster, Ohio, reputedly next to his daughter and her husband (Mary Juliana and Jacob).
Also (supposedly),a "Dum Family History" by Mary Virginia “Jenny” Dum in 1934 included a story about Thomas as "a rosy-cheeked man who walked with a long cane or staff of hawthorne wood. The cane came from Europe and, at that time (1934), was in the possession of Joseph Dum Jr. of Kansas City. Thomas was apparently still relatively healthy: At his death, he still had his own teeth."
Particularly the family stories...can anyone confirm or add to? Are there any burial records for Elmwood Catholic Cemetery detailing Thomas' death/burial in 1843? Any information will be appreciated.
Will gladly share any Zwayer information I have.

QUERY: What are the relationships among the various BELLs living in Amanda Township in the 1840s and 1850s? Samuel BELL (born about 1808) was probably the son of Isaiah BELL, who died in 1845, and son or stepson of Isaiah's wife Margaret BELL, who died in 1846. Charles BELL (born about 1828) and the mentally handicapped Isaiah BELL are evidently sons of Isaiah and Margaret, as they paid for their parents' tombstones. John BELL (born about 1809) is possibly the nephew of Isaiah, but if someone can shed more light on this, I'd appeciate it.

SURNAME: MEYERS, FISHER, LAKE
I would like to know if Catherine Fisher, age 17 living with her mother, Barbara (Meyers)Fisher in the 1850 Greenfield, Fairfield Co. census could have been named Catherine Elizabeth Fisher? I am trying to find my great grandmother, Elizabeth Fisher's parents and siblings. My great grandmother's tombstone reads that she was born in 1833 which would make her 17 in 1850. Her 1880 census reads that her father was born in PA which is true of John Fisher and that her mother was born in VA which I believe is true of Barbara Meyers. It seems conceivable that Elizabeth would marry her sister's husband, Nathaniel M. Lake when Eve died. Elizabeth apparently had 2 children before marrying Nathaniel. They were Mary born about 1854 and Henry born about 1855 (my grandfather). Henry was adopted by Nathaniel and his name was changed to Henry Lake. I would like to know who or if Elizabeth was married before marrying Nathaniel also. Thanks Fran Neuvirth
