I'm seeking information on a Mr. James Clark. He would have been born ca 1790 in Dublin, Ireland, came to America via the Virginia's (Harper's Ferry area), first hitting Fairfield County, Ohio, and then on to Pickway County, Ohio.
James was a weaver by trade, and when he came to Ohio was one of the pioneer school teachers (But where?).
James spouse's name is unknown to me, but he had a daughter named Susannah "Susan" Clark, b: 1811 near Harper's Ferry, Virginia. She married in to the "Siders" family in 1832 in Rockbridge County, Virginia, to Mr. Jacob Siders, son of Mr. Solomon Siders, Jr. Jacob & Susan had about 11 children in Fairfield & Pickway Counties before moving to Douglas County, Illinois, in 1852 so I'd like to think that someone out there has the information I am seeking.

STROHL, FOUTY: Anna Grace Strohl married Isaac David Fouty. Anna's death record shows she was born in Lancaster, but doesn't list her parents names. Don't have much information to go on for Grace. Isaac has several records showing Harpers Ferry as his place of birth, but the states of Maryland and Virgina are both listed, so I'm not sure
which side of the river he was born on, also no mention of his parents names, so at a bit of a loss here as well. Most of the records lists his occupation as carpenter. I do know he was a member of the International Order of Odd Fellows, but haven't received a response to requests for information yet. Both Grace and Isaac died in Van Wert. I only know of three children they had, but the gap in birth dates makes me wonder if there were other children. Although 1860 census
only showed the daughter listed below and, the 1880 census only showed the sons listed below. Their daughter, Elizabeth, was born in 1844 according to her age given! in an obituary. I have no record of birth on her yet, but still need
to search Fairfield. Elizabeth married Henry Butler in 1866 in Van Wert, Ohio, and died in 1882 also in Van Wert. Charles C W (also found listed as Conan) was born Oct 1859 in Van Wert. He married Amanda A Jewell and they lived their lives in Van Wert, with Charles having died in 1942. My ancestor Grant W. was born in July 1862 and married Mary Caroline McCollum in 1887. He lived his entire life in Van Wert County until his death in 1936.

Because I have located a Joseph Petty in the Hocking Tp. Census for 1820, and I know that my Joseph PETTY was listed briefly in Fairfield Co., prior to the Perry Co., formation, I am wondering if there are any Petty descendants in the county? I know that Reading Tp. runs along the county line road and I am interested in hearing from anyone of the Petty family or any of the allied lines such as Purvis, Compton, Coleman, Barnes, Murdock, Short, Green, Middaugh, Vanatta, or any others who might have lived across the road, so to speak. I am descended from Jacob Petty, s/o Joseph and ELizabeth Petty who settled in Fairfiled, 1808 but were thereafter known to be in Reading Tp., Perry Co when the formation was complete. I am also tracing their son, John, who married early in Fairfield, I believe lost his wife, Tene
Seymour/Seymore and married Delia Danison who also died. I believe he then went to Clark Co. and married Martha Fort of that area in 1830. Are there any descendants! from any of these lines?

FENSTERMACHER, FENSTERMAKER. Seek to find submitter of FENSTERMACHER, FENSTERMAKER archived query at http:/www.fairfieldgenealogy.org/queries/ArchQue5.html regarding a desire for information on William Fenstermacher, son of Peter Fenstermacher and Eva Eilert. From your Email address "fenstere@freewwweb.com" that seems to no longer be an active address, I assume that you are a Fenstermacher, Fenstermaker or some other derivative of the traditional spelling

I ran across your fairfieldgenealogy.org/queries the while searching for Information on Revolutionary War service by Peter Fenstermacher (18) and/or the father (Martin Eilert) of Peter’s wife Eva Elisabeth Eilert. If you should have any information in that regards, I would appreciate it for use in a Sons of the Revolution (SAR) or Daughters of the Revolution (DAR) effort that I am working on.

Numbers in parenthesis () above and in the following narrative are reference numbers in my documentation.

My records show that your William Fenstermacher (106) was born about 1803, the 6th of 11 children of Peter Fenstermacher (18). Peter was born after 1764 in Berks Co, PA, the 7th of 9 children of Philip (3) and Elizabeth (Kaercher or Kercher) Fenstermacher. Philip was born 27 Feb 1713 in Germany and arrived at the port of Philadelphia on 30 Aug 1737 at the age of 20. He died in 15 Jun 1790 at the age of 77 years, 3 months, 2 weeks, and 5 days. Philip was the son of Matthias Fenstermacher (1) who was born in Germany on 24 Sep 1678 and arrived at the port of Philadelphia a year later on 9 Sep 1738 along with two other sons Jacob (2) and William. I am an 8th generation descendant of Jacob Fenstermacher who was born 2 May 1709 and died after the 1790 census. We are unaware of any descendants of this William Fenstermacher (b. 18 Apr 1713?). Matthias was the son of Hans Conrad Fenstermacher who was born about 1650 in Hillscheidt Rhenish Bavaria (near what is now Koblenz, Germany)!
and died sometime before 24 Sep 1678, when his son Matthias was born. I have more details on Philip (3) and Jacob (2), who had 8 children.

My records show that your Peter Fenstermacher (18) was the 7th of 9 children of Philip Fenstermacher (3). Peter was born about 1744 in Berks Co, PA. Peter was married to Eva Elisabeth Eilert in 1785 and he died before 25 Oct 1841 and is buried at Ziegel’s Church Cemetery in Maxatawny Tsp., Berks Co. PA. Eva Elisabeth was born 18 Feb 1767 and she died 7 Jun 1850 and is buried at Ziegel’s Church Cemetery also.

I show that Peter (18) and Eva Elisabeth Fenstermacher had 11 children as follows:
1. (102) Daniel; b. 29 Apr 1789.
2. A daughter born. 26 Nov 1790 and died 30 Dec 1790.
3. (103) Esther; b. 14 Jul 1795.
4. (104) Maria; b. 18 Mar 1799.
5. (105) Margaret; b. 9 Apr 1802.
6. (106) William; (details below)
7. Rachel; married S. Borrell.
8. (107) Peter;
9. (108) Abraham
10. Benjamin; b. 11 Jun 1806 and d. 16 Oct 1823 and buried at Longswamp Church Cemetery, Longswamp Berks Co PA.
11. A daughter (no other information on her)

My records show that William Fenstermacher (106) was born after Margaret (105) so he was probably born in 1803 and he died in 1845. He was married to Susanna Biehl who died within a week of Williams’s death. They lived in Longswamp Berks Co PA as late as 2 Apr 1832. They are both buried at Job’s Cemetery in Waterloo OH. My records show that William (106) and Susanna Fenstermacher had 10 children as follows:
1. Nathan, b. 22 Dec 1815.
2. Esther; b. 11 Aug 1823.
3. (366) Gideon; b.22 Aug 1825 in Longswamp, Berks Co PA and d. 22 Jun 1894 and is buried in Leipsic, Putnam Co, OH. He was a Soldier in the Mexican War and was a resident of Fairfield, OH as early as 30 Jun 1843. He married Annis Elisabeth Root (dau. of Henry and Mary Root) on 17 Aug 1851. She was born 10 mar 1834 in Washington County MD and died in 1907and is buried with Gideon in Leipsic, OH. The had 10 children as follows:
a. Mary E.; b.8 Sep 1853 and married ___Gustweiler.
b. Edward; b. 21 may 1856.
c. (968) J. M.; b. 16 Dec 1857.
d. Saluda; b. 26 Apr 1860 and married ___Stall.
e. E Callie; b. 10 Oct 1863.
f. C. W.; b. 26 Mar 1865.
g. John D.; b.8 Dec 1868.
h. Dallas Robinson; b. 9 Sep 1875.
i. Ora; b. 1 Apr 1878 (twin).
j. Cora; b. 1 Apr 1878 (twin).

4. (367) Enoch; b. 17 Jul 1827 and married Julia A. Fenstermacher who was the daughter of William Fenstermacher (119) {a distant cousin descendant of my early ancestor Jacob Fenstermacher (2)}and Anna Mary Minehart who was born 10 Jul 1838 at Carrol, OH (she was still living in her home in Rochester, IN in 1916). They had 3 children as follows:
a. Alpheus Merideth; b. 19 Jan 1861
b. Frank Lamar; b. 3 Dec 1864
c. Marion Orestes: b. 14 Jul 1874

5. Susanna; baptized 12 Apr 1829, and married ___Shoemaker.
6. Noah who lived in Waterloo, OH.
7. Aaron who lived in Lithopolis, OH.
8. (368) Samuel; (details below).
9. Judah A. ; who married___Ziegler
10. Laura; who married ___Fellers

My records show that Samuel Fenstermacher (368) was born 3 Jul 1833 (not 3 Jun 1932 as noted in you query, and I assume the 1932 date in the query should have read 1832). Do you have documentary evidence of the 3 Jun 1832 date? I show that Samuel died in 1908 at Findley, OH and is buried in Basil, OH. I show that Samuel Married Barbara Hosher (Dau of George and Mary Hosher). I show that Samuel and Barbara Fenstermacher had 10 children as follows:
1. (969) Adelia Victoria: b. in 1857 and d. 1893.
m. John Neff of Baltimore, OH and had 7 children.
2. George V.; (who died at age 10).
3. (970) Frank McClellan; b. in 1860 in Huntington, IN and had two daughters.
4. (971) Ella F.; B17 Sep 1864 and Mar Charles G. Johnson who was b. 10 Mar 1864 I Baltimore, OH and died 30 Dec 1896 at Barnsville OH. They had 4 Children.
5. (972) Meeta C.: b.1865 and d. 1890 and was married to Jay D. Brown.
6. (973)Lula M.: b. 1868 and married widower Jay D. Brown in 1895 after Meeta’s death. They had 5 children.
7. (974) Maude Estelle: married Jackson D. Whime of Groveport, OH. They had 2 children.
8. Dewitt Clinton; I have no further information on him), but I have to believe that he is your Grandfather because there are no other male Fenstermacher grandchildren of Samuel in my records. Please correct me if I am wrong in my conclusion
9. (975) Charles H. Moore Fenstermacher: b 1881, and married Mattie Andrews of Elizabeth, LA. They had one child (a Daughter)

I have done this excerpt quite quickly, so if you have any information that differs from what I have provided, please advise and provide the source of your information if you don’t mind so that we can try to reconcile the differences. If you provide your linkage to Samuel (368), I can show you how we are related back through Jacob (2) and Philip (3). On the surface, it appears that we may both be same generation descendants of Matthias Fenstermacher (1).

I have been given a ledger that was kept by my Great Grandfather Forest B England. It has such a variety of entries I am having a hard time finding out exactly what his job was other than a baker at one time and why he kept notes re so many different individuals. Here are some examples starting in 1907. He has itemized work times, jobs, places worked and the wages of GEO CLARK, J.R. GERMAN, W.H. BLAKE all at the HARTMAN STOCK FARM. He mentions the FOUR MILE LOCKS, the PROVINGER DAIRY building burning down. The OHIO & SOUTHERN TRACTION cars running to poultry farm. He mentions in detail the sucide of BENJAMIN F. EVANS who was the postmaster in Shadeville, Ohio for 20 yrs. The accident and eventual death of LEWIS HOOVER. He and CHARLES PLOUTS were driving a wagon and were hit by a street car on the corner of N Columbus and Union Streets. Charles was killed instantly. Has anyone ever heard of the EAGLE MFG CO, HC GOODMAN SHOE CO, FOREST ROSE BAKERY, BRILL'S BAKERY, K&P SECRET ORDER, and WOODMAN OF THE WORLD SECRET ORDER? P&M BAKERY owned by HUFFMAN and MARKWOOD that closed Feb. 26, 1938? An earlier entry dated 10/03/1937 mentions that BEN J POTTS propriator and owner of the P&M BAKERY died at 11:05 am. He mentions death notices of WESLEY P MILLER, HARLEY BROWN, BUD HAYES, JOSEPH MUNDY, CHARLES EAST, BEN POTTS, and ELIZABETH FRENCH. ELIZABETH BORRORS household goods were sold at public auction. Forest had a brother Glenn who at the age of 21 'went bad'. He was admitted to the Athens Mental Hospital. After some time he was released and said to be well and safe. However soon after, he was said to 'be going bad' again. A Mrs. Hall's Mother who was 92 wanted to take Glenn home with her and take care of him and give him a nice burial at the time of his death. Anyone have any family stories about Mother Hall? Does anyone know...are medical records ever open to public view?
