who were Mordecai and his wife. The father died around 1813, and they took their Mother to
Indiana where she died between 1830 and 1840. They ended as early settlers of Boone

great-grandfather John Baker Sr and Sarah Lusima Evans Dewer Ogden who met and were
married around Lithopolis in 1850. Sara Lusima was born in England on 27 Jan 1830, was
previously married to Washington Priestley(SP) Dewer, and married John Baker Ogden, Sr in
1850. John was born on 7 April 1837 in Lithopolis, was too young to marry without his
mother's permission. His mother was on her second marriage at the time as John's father
had died earlier. John and Sarah had 4 children: John Baker, Jr, William C., Lewis or
Louis N., and Mary L. John Sr died in Illinois 19 Dec 1891 inb central Illinois. Sarah
lived with her son William until her death on 22 Jan 1926. John Baker Jr was my
grand-father and was a farmer, owned an International Harvester implement store and a

children of Jacob L. Eckert and his first wife Catherine ("Kitty") SHELLENBARGER
(Shallenberger?) Eckert. Children were born (approx) between 1808 and 1817 in Fairfield
County or Hocking County. My g-grandfather, Lemente/Lemoyne (called Lemunday in
guardianship document) was definitely one of them. After his mother's death, Isaac Koontz
was his guardian. Sarah (or Sally) and Lewis may be two of his siblings. I have
conflicting information...there were 7 children, or 4 (?) If there are any descendants of
these children, or of George Eckert, Jacob's son by his second wife (Rebecca Canode
Johnston Eckert) still in the Fairfield County area, (or anywhere, for that matter!) James Price married Mary Palmer in Delaware, she had a brother
Jonathan Palmer who died in Fairfield Co., Ohio in the 1850's. Jonathan Palmer came to
Fairfield Co., Ohio about 1818, the Price family came to Fairfield Co., Ohio about 1821.
Both families were residents of Richland Twp. The children of James and Mary (Palmer)

Sept 1840 in Fairfield Co. Ohio. I'm searching for the first wife of Joseph Henry ALLSPAUGH. She
died before 1850 but he her children can be found in the 1850 census in Baltimore, Liberty
Twp., page 193, with his second wife and her first child, Henry Clay ALLSPAUGH. J.H.
Allspaugh was born 25 Feb 1815 in Lancaster, Fairfield County, so I suspect that his first
wife was from there, or they married there. But I cannot find any reference to her, so I
do not know her name. I believe their first child, Emily, was born in Baltimore, Fairfield
Co., OH on 26 Feb 1839. She married Edward F. EWING in Butler Twp., Knox Co., in 1862 and
later moved to Kansas. About 1840 they had twin boys, Samuel and Harrison ALLSPAUGH, then
the first wife died. J.H. married his second wife, Mary Jane REEDER, in 1849 in Delaware
County, her birth place. He's buried in Mound View Cemetery in Mt. Vernon, Knox County,
OH, with Mary Jane. Can anyone find a lady whose married name was ALLSPAUGH (that spelling
is uncommon but is almost certainly correct), born about 1815-1820, who died between 1840
and 1848? She is probably buried alone or with her parents. I would really appreciate a
clue. I am also interested in discovering the parents of J.H. ALLSPAUGH. They may have
been from Pennsylvania. Does anyone know the location of a 19th century school building in
Walnut Township, Fairfield County, OH known as the "Kreager School." The
schoolhouse was adjacent to, or across the road from, a farm where the HAVER family
resided after about 1825. Previously, the property belonged to an original settler of

grandfather: JOHN BAKER OGDEN, born in Lithopolis on 7 April 1837. He married Sarah Lusima
Evans Dewer on 22 April 1859. I understand that he was in the Civil War but was discharged
about half way through his enlistment due to epilepsy. He had four children: John Baker
JR, Lewis N.; Mary L.; and William C. They moved to Illinois in the late 1800's, I don't
know when. John Baker Sr. died in 1891. My grandfather was John B. Jr. All that knew
anything about their backgrounds are long dead. Looking for information of the family of Philp KOCH/COOK,b:1849,
Scioto Co.OH md. Malaha DAWSON in 1871. Philip KOCH changed the spelling of his name
to,COOK. He moved from Scioto Co.OH in ca.1910 to Lancaster, Fairfield Co.OH. There was an
article about a family reunion help a week before they moved to Lancaster area. I lose
them about 1910, after this move. Philip died 1920 in Athens at state Hospital. What

Does anyone know the children of John
and Frances (Rainey) Davis? Or for that matter their birth/death/marriage dates and
places. I have a hunch they are related but need proof. HOFFER, MOYER, MILLIGAN, PALMER, WESTENBARGER Doing research on William McKinley 1779-1857 and Elizabeth Herring
1785-1872 in Amanda Township, I have most of data on their descendants, but trying to
determine if there are any siblings. We do not know their parents, but William and
Elizabeth were born in Ireland and arrived in Fairfield County between 1815 and 1820 as
they appear in the census then. We also believe that the Davidsons may be related as there
is a rumor that Easter Davidson 1784-1845, husband of James Davidson 1783-1846 may be
related if Easter was Williams sister. The Davidsons are mentioned in the estate sale and

Violet Township, Fairfield County, Ohio there is a James CRAWFIS listed on page 009A. 2
males and 5 females are listed in his household. I can find no further reference to this
individual. It is possible that he could be a brother to Nicholas CRAWFIS who lived in
Berne Township, Fairfield County, Ohio. Adam and Hannah (SMART) BUSSERT: Adam was born at Maryland and
Hannah born at Penn. They married (where?) and lived at Fairfield co. Ohio Adam was born

They had one child, Nelson Albert CURTIS, born 22 Aug 1864 in Lancaster, Fairfield Co.,
Oh. Nelson married Martha I BRIGHT of Logan, Hocking Co., Ohio. Family stories say they
were "canal" people...possibly the Erie Barge Canal. WEBB, MOREHART, LAWRENCE - Thomas Webb born April, 1849 in Pickaway
County, married Anna Elizabeth Morehart November, 1872, and resided in Greenfield
Township, Fairfield County. Thomas Webb's parents were Matthias Webb (born in Virginia in
1825 ?) and Elizabeth Lawrence (born in Pennsylvania in 1827 ?). Matthias and Elizabeth
were in Pickaway County on the 1850 census with son Thomas and on the 1860 census with
sons Thomas and Francis and daughters Eliza and Mary. After the 1860 census Matthias and
Elizabeth and their children disappear from the records until Thomas shows up in Fairfield
County in 1872. Does anyone know what happened to Matthias and Elizabeth and the other
three children - Eliza, Francis, and Mary, and whether there were any children born to the
couple after 1860? Looking for information on the parents of John Lafayette WILSON.
Born 1827, near Lancaster. Was orphaned by either his father, or both parents by age 10.
Supposedly raised by his mother's family. Was a school teacher in the public schools by
age 16. Married in Perry County around 1850 and moved to Bluffton, Indiana. Served in the
Civil War, became a lawyer, became a Judge. Was living when he died in Morrow, Warren
County, Ohio. Supposedly related to John White GEARY through his mother. She could be Anna
Barbara GEARY WILSON, stated in the will of Gideion GEARY around 1832. Copy I have is VERY
HARD TO READ. Who was his father? I suspect John WILSON. But I don't know much else.
I've found a few other lines of WILSONs in Fairfield county. Is he related to them? I am looking for information on my 3rd and 4th ggfathers and their
families. I know that John and Joel MACKRILL (MACKERELL etc) were located in Fairfield and
Richland counties in early 1800's until about 1830 when they were living in the Licking
county (around Hartford) area. These families had several sons that married into the
ANDREWS family ( Nancy ANDREWS and Catherine ANDREWS) in 1820's. Joel MACKRILL and his
family later moved to Jones county, Iowa. If anyone has any information on either of these
families please contact me. Am researching the above families with any variant in spelling, and
am also interested in learning why early Swiss families migrated to Fairfield

Hummell dob 26 March 1868 and a ??Christine. She was the daughter of John Jacob Hummel of
Bloom Twp Fairfirld Co Ohio. I am searching for information on Brazilla T. Moore born in
Fairfield county Sept. 8, 1817. He married Lucinda Bish May 15, 1840 (possibly in Perry
County). They had 13 children, two of which ended up in Hardin county. I only have
information on the two children in Hardin county and am totally stuck on the rest and
cannot find Brazilla's parents. Does anyone have information on Lewis Ashbrook/his family? Lewis
married Cecilia Elizabeth Geiger on September 4, 1864. She was born in 1843, so estimating

married Meredith D.B. Chism after 1870. In an 1870 Census, she is listed as a domestic
servant in the home of David & Samantha Chism. Her sister, Sarah, aged 15, lived next
door with the John Mays family, and is also listed as a domestic servant. I am looking for information on Jacob Paul who came to Virginia in
1804 and then moved on to Fairfield county and Married Mary Beard. They are buried
somewhere in The area of Pleasantville. His son John is buried at the Methodist Ep. Church

married John Bright of the Bright House on Havensport Rd in Baltimore, Ohio. THE APT FAMILY listed as one of the principal pioneers of Liberty

names, and any other historical details pertaining to the Comer Family. GROVE or GROVES -- Would like to know his full name and his wife's
name. Mr. Grove was the superintendent and his wife the matron of The Fairfield County
Children's Home in Lancaster, Ohio. Believe it to be sometime between 1900 and 1925. Any
information will be appreciated. I am writing a history of the Children's Home and some of
my material has appeared in the Lancaster Eagle-Gazette as written by Dwight Barnes,
Writer for the EG. THANKS - Any other information about Mr. Grove would be appreciated. An LDS entry in 1990 lists ANDREW DILL born in Lancaster in 1783.
He married Eliz. Lawrence 4 Nov 1827 and died 20 Apr 1832. I am a Dill descendant and
Andrew was a 3 gr- grandfather. Unfortunately in 1800-1810 there were at least three
Andrew Dills in the Columbus/Lancaster/Chillicothe area and all appeared to have meddled
in each others affairs. David HOLLISTER and Sophronia BENNETT were married in Delaware
County 4 Jan 1844. They are included in the 1850 Fairfield County census (Walnut twp) with
2 children. Some of their neighbors are Catherine HOLLISTER 44 b PA, 2 children Isaac 18
and Mary 8. On the other side is Isaac BENNETT 45 and his wife Margaret 47 both b PA and
then Samel BENNETT 46, his wife Margaret, 43 and their children. By 1870 David and family
have moved to Michigan, however, I cannot find Catherine or the Bennetts. I am seeking information about Margaretta Baucher and her parents.
She was born about 1841. Her father may have been named George Baucher. Margaretta married
Moses M. Gaunt on Sept. 8, 1859 in Lithopolis, Fairfield Co., Ohio. A George Baucher was
living in Amanda Township. I would really appreciate it if someone could look-up the 1850
census and see if there is a Margaretta Baucher listed. I need any information about any
of these people. Looking for information on my father, Harry M. Boyer, born in
Fairfield County, Nov. 1900 and his parents Emma and William Boyer and any information on

COZEAU, who was one of the 67 CAnadians given land in the Refugee Tract about 1800 or

CRIST of Bloom tp. Wife's name was Caroline (possibly Sarah Caroline). In 1850 census John
Starling 14 yrs old and Samantha Stansbury 6 yrs old were in the household. John Starling
later went to Hancock co, with John Milton Crist bro of S. Simon. Samantha later married
Ervin Crist gr son of S. Simon. Ch of John and Caroline as known: Elizabeth, Amos Allen,
Sarah Mariah. Elizabeth, Sarah mariah and Caroline all died. Amos Allen went with his
father to Indiana. They inherited a farm from S. Simon in Greenfield tp. BOWMAN, GESSELL/SELLS Searching for children of Jacob BOWMAN,
m.1860 in Fairfield County, spouse Dorothea GESSELL. Dorothy d.1884 and Jacob in 1894,

said he was naturalized on October 16, 1858 in Fairfield County, Ohio in the Court of

and Circleville. I'm looking for information on the Raker and BIXLER families. John
Raker (Born 1810 in PA) came to Fairfield County, Ohio with his parents Martin and Sarah
RAKER after 1815. They left FF in the 1830's and settled in Fulton County Ohio. John Raker
married around 1830 to a woman named Sarah Bixler. Their first child Daniel was born in
1832. I presume they married in FF Ohio, but haven't been able to confirm it. Also, Ii
haven't been able to tie Sarah to FF, Ohio. Sarah was born in 1808 and died in 1842. I
think she may have been the niece of Christian Bixler the 2nd who did live in FF. |
