This is an index to the 1880 census of Fairfield County, Ohio. It includes heads of household and those persons in the household with a surname different from the head of household.

This index was compiled from microfilm, not the original census. Some of it was difficult to read due to faded ink, erasures, poor handwriting, etc. Also spelling was not uniform and the script used sometimes made it difficult to decipher the letters. Please keep these factors in mind and check all possible spelling variations.

Each letter and number code refers to township and page number of the census; i.e. AM-37 refers to page 37 of Amanda Township, while W5-370 refers to the fifth ward of the City of Lancaster, page 370.
